A personalised hip flask is the classic groomsman, retirement and thank-you gift, and it is one of the few gifts people actually keep. Every flask we supply is laser engraved in-house in the UK, so the mark is cut into the steel rather than printed on top of it.
Why laser engraving rather than printing
Laser engraving removes the very top layer of the flask's finish, so the design is physically part of the metal. It cannot peel, scratch off in a pocket or fade in a dishwasher, which matters on something designed to be carried around for years.
Print on a curved metal surface, by contrast, sits on the outside and wears at the edges first. On a gift meant to last, engraving is the only sensible route.

How much can you engrave on a hip flask?
A standard 8oz flask gives you a usable panel on the front face. That is comfortable for a name and a short line, a set of initials and a date, or a company logo. It is not enough for a long paragraph, and squeezing one in makes the whole thing hard to read.
Because engraving is single tone, colour logos are converted to one tone before cutting. Fine detail and very thin lines close up when the laser passes over them, so simple, bold artwork always engraves best.

What to engrave on a hip flask
For weddings, initials with the wedding date is the most requested, followed by a role and name such as "Best Man" above the name. For retirements and long-service gifts, the years of service alongside the person's name reads well and dates the gift properly.
For corporate gifting, a logo on its own usually looks more expensive than a logo plus a strapline. If you want both, put the logo on the flask and the message on the packaging instead.
Quantities, cost and lead times
There are no screens or plates to make, so a single engraved flask is viable and a run of fifty is not disproportionately cheaper per unit than a run of ten. That makes flasks unusually good for small, personal orders where every item carries a different name.
